The Phani family story begins in the providence of Galway, the Republic of Ireland. Shortly after World War II, they immigrated to the U.S. And settled in Southern California. They came seeking economic opportunity and to start a family. Harry Phani and Rose Phani had 2 children, Les Phani and Mai Phani. Uncle Wylie Phani and Aunt Mary Phani lived nearby. Eventually Granpa Luce Phani and Grandma Luvya Phani later moved to a nearby neighborhood and spent time as well as considerable effort helping raise the little doughs.

Harry Phani worked as a tailor in the garment district in Los Angeles. Rosie Phani stayed home while the children were growing up. Harry worked many long hours to put food on the table. Granpa Luce and Grandma Luvya Phani were very proud of Harry, Rosie, Les and Mai. The children got married and started raising more little Phani's.
